Today, February 24, 2016, Scott Guthrie, Vice President of the Cloud and Enterprise Group at Microsoft, announced in his blog that Microsoft has acquired Xamarin, a company that has developed one of the most popular platforms for cross-platform mobile application development.

Xamarin allows developers to use all the advantages and capabilities of the .NET platform to create mobile applications using the C# language, and provides a full set of native APIs for using the capabilities of each of the mobile platforms for which the application is being created.

Microsoft has been cooperating with Xamarin for a long time. Some of this company's products are integrated into Visual Studio, Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility Suite and already allow developers to create applications for different operating systems based on common code.

Crossinform actively uses Xamarin for mobile development. We hope that with this acquisition, the quality of the product and the capabilities of the technology will become even better.
