START OF DEVELOPMENT OF YCLOUD BACKUP FOR YANDEX CLOUD

The Cross-Inform company has started developing the YCloud Backup product for backing up virtual machines running in Yandex Cloud. The product will implement both standard scheduled backup functions and more specific ones: restoring individual files from a backup, estimating the monthly cost of storing backups, etc.

Virtual disk snapshots will be used as the basic mechanism for backup. Using a native mechanism will help avoid potential errors and make the solution more reliable. Disk snapshots are stored in Yandex Managed Service for YDB, replicated in several availability zones and encrypted at the database level.

Preliminary estimate of the development time for this solution is 6 months
